MORRISTOWN — A search for a missing 14-year-old boy who was last seen swimming in the Lamoille River was suspended as darkness fell on Tuesday evening, authorities said.
Morristown Police Department, along with Morrisville Fire Department, Morristown EMS, and Johnson Water Rescue, responded to a report of the missing swimmer near the B Street power dam at about 5:51 p.m.
Emergency personnel initiated an immediate search for the young male, a local resident of Morristown, but were unable to locate him.
Additional support was provided by Stowe Mountain Rescue and Morrisville Water and Light.
After nearly three hours of searching, the efforts were halted at about 8:50 p.m. due to nightfall and safety concerns.
Emergency services plan to maintain a presence at the scene throughout the night.
The search is set to continue on the morning of Aug. 8 with the aid of the Vermont State Police Underwater Recovery Team.
