RISP make multiple arrests for reckless driving, assault, and identity fraud

CRANSTON — State Police arrested several individuals on charges ranging from reckless driving to identity fraud following a series of incidents, officials said.

At 1 p.m., troopers took Christopher Vega, 28, of Cranston, into custody on an affidavit and arrest warrant for reckless driving and eluding an officer after a high-speed pursuit.

Vega was apprehended at the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office and processed at State Police Headquarters before being taken to Third District Court.

Later, at 3:35 p.m., Johnny A. Rodriguez, 24, also of Cranston, was arrested for reckless driving.

The arrest occurred during a traffic stop on Route 6 East in Providence.

Rodriguez was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned, and released with a court date set for the Sixth Division District Court.

Edwin Marrero, 54, of Pawtucket, was arrested at 4:02 p.m. for assaulting a health care provider or emergency services medical personnel.

The arrest followed an investigation into an incident at a Cranston address.

Marrero was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned, and then transported to the Adult Correctional Institution as a bail violator.

At 11:05 p.m., Tomas Enrique Sanchez-Echavarria, 27, of Providence, was arrested for identity fraud and obstruction following a vehicle stop.

He was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned, and released.

Shortly after, at 11:16 p.m., Margaret Moura, 33, of Providence, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Following a traffic stop on Union Avenue in Providence, Moura was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned, and released.

Early the next morning, at 12:04 a.m., Amanda L. Schaefer, 33, of East Providence, was arrested on charges of burglary and domestic violence.

Schaefer was stopped on Madison Street in Providence and later turned over to the Providence Police Department.

Finally, at 1:40 a.m., Johnathan Herpin, 18, of Providence, was arrested on a juvenile bench warrant for breaking and entering.

After a stop on Dean Street in Providence, Herpin was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and transferred to the Rhode Island Training School.
