NAUGATUCK — A routine response to a noise complaint at a local hotel led to an unexpected narcotics arrest early Monday morning.

Naugatuck Police were called to the Comfort Inn at 716 New Haven Road around 2 a.m. on Aug. 5 following reports of a male and female arguing loudly.

While officers were discussing the situation with the hotel’s front desk clerk, Stephanie Rodriguez, 45, of Waterbury, was seen exiting a room in an agitated state, carrying a bag.

Upon speaking with Rodriguez, officers learned that she had been involved in a verbal altercation with a male associate inside the room.

During their interaction, police discovered Rodriguez was in possession of a container holding individual vials of crack cocaine.

Rodriguez was promptly arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

She was held on a $5,000 bond and later arraigned at Waterbury Superior Court at 9 a.m. the same day.

The Naugatuck Police Department has commended the officers involved for their diligence, stating that their actions have contributed to removing drugs from the community.
