EDDINGTON — A quick response by a Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office deputy led to the arrest of a man accused of hurling rocks through a resident’s windows on Friday, authorities said.
The incident occurred just before noon when the Penobscot Regional Communications Center received a 911 call at 11:55 a.m. from a woman in Eddington.
She reported that her windows appeared to be shot out and that she had found glass scattered throughout her house.
Believing that someone was shooting at her home, the victim sheltered in place and took measures to protect herself.
A deputy assigned to the Eddington Contract was nearby and arrived on the scene within minutes.
After conducting a thorough investigation, authorities determined that 58-year-old Luther Green, a neighbor of the victim, was responsible for throwing large rocks at the house, resulting in the damage.
Green was arrested for criminal mischief and was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
The sheriff’s office credited the swift action of the deputy, who was in the area due to being assigned to the town contract, with significantly reducing the response time and aiding in the quick identification of the suspect.
