Norwalk smoke shops raided, multiple charges for illegal THC sales

NORWALK — At around 6:30 p.m. on June 7, the Norwalk Police Department’s Special Services Division carried out search and seizure warrants at two local smoke shops following complaints of illicit activities.

Sono One Stop, located at 83 Washington Street, was one of the targets of the operation.

Employee Evary L. Zorrilla Jr., residing at 94 Washington Street Apt. 19, faces charges for the illegal sale or manufacture of cannabis and possession of cannabis weighing more than 1.5 ounces but less than 5 ounces.

Zorrilla, who was released on a promise to appear, also had two outstanding warrants for illegally selling tobacco to minors, setting his bond at $1,050.

Authorities seized a variety of contraband from Sono One Stop, including THC-infused gummies, pre-rolled THC blunts, THC vape products, and cannabis flower packages, along with $328 in cash.

The second location, Exotic Smoke Shop at 68A Washington Street, was also searched, resulting in the citation of employee Barsha Sapkota of 11 Bridge Street.

Sapkota faces similar charges for cannabis possession, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and the sale of a significant quantity of cannabis, with a bond set at $1,500.

The seizure at Exotic Smoke Shop included a large assortment of THC vape products and edibles, marijuana pouches, and pre-rolled joints, alongside $1,170 in cash and loose change.
