Boston police arrest 12-year-old after knife threat

BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department arrested a 12-year-old boy Sunday evening after responding to reports of a person wielding a knife in Jamaica Plain.

At about 6:36 p.m., officers dispatched to District E-13 received a call concerning an individual with a knife near the intersection of Washington Street and Chilcott Street.

The police were given a description of a group of five juveniles who allegedly threatened someone with a knife.

Upon arrival, officers searched the vicinity and stopped a group fitting the reported description at Montebello and Haverford streets.

During a frisk, officers found and seized a knife from one of the suspects.

The juvenile, a 12-year-old male, was taken into custody and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.

He is slated to be arraigned at Boston Juvenile Court.
