Stamford man dies in motorcycle crash at Scalzi Park

STAMFORD — The Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on June 7 at approximately 11:08 p.m. at 100 Bridge St, Scalzi Park.

According to authorities, 23-year-old Stamford resident Oscar Chinchilla-Najarro was operating a 2001 Kawasaki dirt bike when he lost control on the outer roadway of the park.

Chinchilla-Najarro mounted the curb and collided with the guardrail on the east side of the park, suffering fatal injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe that high speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.

The case is currently being handled by Sgt. Jeffrey Booth and Ofc. Cory Fisher.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the exact cause of the accident.
