Shots fired in New London, police find shell casings with vehicles hit

NEW LONDON — On Saturday, at approximately 1:44 a.m., New London Police Department officers were dispatched to the intersection of Golden St. and Eugene O’Neill Dr. after receiving reports of gunfire.

Upon their arrival, law enforcement officials discovered over 20 shell casings scattered across a municipal parking lot within the reported area.

Additionally, five parked and unoccupied vehicles showed damage from the shots fired.

Fortunately, there have been no injuries reported in connection with the incident.

The New London Police Department’s Investigative Services Division has taken over the ongoing investigation.

The scene has been thoroughly processed, evidence collected, and the vicinity canvassed for witnesses or further information.

Authorities have indicated that this shooting incident does not seem to be random, although details surrounding the motive and potential suspects have not been released.
