WALLINGFORD — Vermont State Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash and burglary at a Wallingford residence Tuesday afternoon.

At around 1:53 p.m., troopers were called to the scene at 434 Clarendon Road, where a red 2006 GMC 5500 dump truck had collided with a garage before fleeing.

The residence was found vandalized and unlawfully entered.

The truck was later discovered abandoned 12 miles away in Mount Holly.

Police confirmed with the vehicle’s owner that it had been stolen earlier from Ira.

There were no reported injuries, and the vehicle sustained moderate damage.

The investigation into both the burglary and the hit-and-run is ongoing.
