Teen escapes injury after swerving to avoid collision in Rutland

RUTLAND — A teenage driver escaped injury after a near head-on collision on East Pittsford Road on June 5.

At around 7:10 p.m., Vermont State Police were called to the scene where 18-year-old resident of of Chittenden reported swerving to avoid a dark-colored Jeep-like vehicle that had veered into her lane.

The teen driver, who was traveling north, managed to prevent a head-on collision by maneuvering her 2024 Mazda CX-5, which resulted in sideswipe damage to the vehicle.

The incident caused the passenger side airbag to deploy, and the vehicle was subsequently towed due to the extent of the damage.

The teen, who was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, did not sustain any injuries.

Authorities are seeking information from witnesses or anyone who might have seen the vehicle that caused the crash.
