COVENTRY — Vermont State Police arrested a Woodbury man on drug charges Wednesday morning after finding him with narcotics at a Coventry rest area.

At approximately 10:28 a.m., troopers responded to a call about a man slumped over in his vehicle at the I-91 Coventry Rest Area.

Upon arrival, they identified the individual as 38-year-old Joshua Leblanc of Woodbury.

Visible inside the vehicle were several items of drug paraphernalia.

Leblanc, who stated he was only sleeping and did not require medical assistance, had been at the rest area since early morning.

During the investigation, troopers developed probable cause to search the vehicle after Leblanc consented.

The search revealed several items containing a white powdery substance.

Leblanc admitted ownership of the items and identified the substance as an illicit narcotic.

Tests later confirmed the substance as Fentanyl.

The seized items were sent to the Vermont Forensic Laboratory for further analysis.

Leblanc was cited for possession of a narcotic drug and is scheduled to appear in Orleans County Criminal Court at a later date.
