Keene man charged with assault after stabbing near convenience store

KEENE — A local man was arrested and charged with second-degree assault following a stabbing incident near a convenience store in Keene, police said.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on June 5, Keene Police patrol units responded to a call at The Factory Convenience Store located at 219 West St. Upon arrival, officers launched a search and quickly detained 35-year-old Kristopher Powers, a resident of Keene.

The victim, a 46-year-old male, was later located at Cheshire Medical Center receiving care for serious injuries that were significant but not believed to be life-threatening.

Following an investigation, Powers was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and violation of a protective order, a misdemeanor.

The latter charge was not related to the assault but involved another individual present at the scene.

Powers was held without bail and transported to Cheshire County House of Corrections.

He is scheduled for arraignment at the 8th Circuit Court- Keene on the afternoon of June 6.
