Groton police issue traffic advisory for Tour de Noank 5K

GROTON — The Groton Police Department has issued a traffic advisory in anticipation of the Tour de Noank Fun Run 5K Road Race, set to take place Saturday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Residents and visitors in the Noank Village area can expect traffic delays and are encouraged to exercise caution while driving.

The Fun Run is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m., followed by the 5K Road Race at 10 a.m., with the starting line at Esker Point Beach.

The race course will lead participants through Noank Village, proceeding along Elm Street, and then onto Brook Street, causing moderate traffic congestion.

Local authorities have advised travelers to allow for extra travel time and to drive safely during the event.

Specific roads that will be affected by the delays include Groton Long Point Road, Brook Street, Elm Street, and Marsh Road, with each experiencing potential interruptions:

– Groton Long Point Road: Traffic from Brook Street to Esker Point Beach may be delayed.
– Brook Street: Delays expected between Groton Long Point Road and Elm Street.
– Elm Street: Anticipate delays between Groton Long Point Road and Brook Street.
– Marsh Road: Traffic may be slowed from Groton Long Point Road to Terrace Avenue.

The Groton Police Department expects normal traffic flow to resume by noon and appreciates the public’s cooperation during this community event.
