Crews extricate driver after car plunges down embankment in West Haven

WEST HAVEN — Emergency crews are working to rescue a driver whose car careened down an embankment off Sawmill Road in West Haven, local authorities confirmed.

The West Haven Fire Department (WHFD) responded to the scene between the exit 42 on and off ramps at approximately 5:40 p.m. today.

A tow truck from Bruneau’s Garage Inc. was reported to be first on the scene, assisting in stabilizing the vehicle and swiftly aiding in the extrication of the trapped driver.

Officials have not yet released the identity of the driver or the cause of the accident.
