RISP troopers make multiple arrests following road rage incident, vehicle stops

LINCOLN WOODS — In a series of separate incidents, Rhode Island State Troopers arrested four individuals on charges ranging from felony assault to possession of controlled substances.

On June 4, at 12:30 p.m., Troopers apprehended Devon Owens, 35, of Cranston, for Felony Assault by Use of Devices Similar in Appearance to a Firearm.

Owens was involved in a road rage altercation on Route 95 South before being stopped by Warwick Police on Warwick Avenue.

Following processing at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, Owens was taken to Sixth Division District Court for arraignment.

Later that same day, at 5:20 p.m., Arnelia Cante Gomez, 29, of Central Falls, was arrested on two counts: Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Damage to Motor Vehicle and Driving Without/Expired License- First Offense.

Gomez’s arrest came about through a combined effort of a Barracks investigation and assistance from the Central Falls Police Department.

After processing, Gomez was arraigned and released with a scheduled court appearance.

The string of arrests continued into the night when, at 11:20 p.m., Jose F. Pena Fortunato, 62, of Providence, faced charges for Driving Under the Influence of Liquor – BAC between .10 and .15 – First Offense and Driving Under the Influence with a Child Passenger Under 13 Years Old – First Offense.

Fortunato was stopped on Hayes Street, processed at the barracks, arraigned, and released with a future court date.

On June 5, at 3:10 a.m., Tajah K. Fisher, 19, of Pawtucket, was taken into custody following a vehicle stop on Charles Street in Providence.

Fisher faces charges including Carrying a Pistol without a License or Permit, Possession of Large Capacity Feeding Devices, and Possession of a Schedule I – V Controlled Substance – 10 Grams or Less (Psilocybin).

After processing and arraignment, Fisher was also released with a future court date.
