WORCESTER — Officers with the Crime Gun Intelligence Unit arrested a 16-year-old male after recovering a ghost gun during a traffic stop in Green Hill Park late Friday night.

At about 11:15 p.m., officers noted a vehicle with an expired registration sticker traveling through the park, which was closed at the time.

After initiating a stop with emergency lights, police observed the passenger exhibiting nervous behavior and attempting to conceal a fanny pack.

Upon ordering the occupants to exit the vehicle, a detective discovered a gun inside the fanny pack.

The weapon, a ghost gun, had no serial number and was loaded with ammunition, ready to fire.

The juvenile passenger was charged with multiple firearm offenses, including possession of a large capacity firearm and ammunition without an FID card, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and the removal or mutilation of a firearm’s serial or identification number.

The driver of the vehicle was issued a verbal warning and released from the scene.

The Worcester Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
