ORLEANS — A large brush fire erupted on Keziahs Lane early this morning, prompting a response from local law enforcement and multiple fire departments.

The Orleans Police Department reported that the blaze began around 4 a.m. Initially thought to be on Kent’s Point, officers arriving at the scene found flames visible on the opposite shore near a solitary house at the end of Keziahs Lane.

The fire had consumed a significant area of woods.

Orleans Fire Department, assisted by crews from Eastham, Harwich, and Chatham, worked to extinguish the fire.

Despite the challenges, one of the first responding officers from the police department became trapped by the incoming fire apparatus but continued to assist the Orleans Fire-Rescue team.

The officer also documented the incident with photographs while at the scene.

Authorities have confirmed that the situation remained active as of 6 a.m. Residents are urged to avoid the area to allow firefighters to safely manage the situation.
