West Greenwich woman arrested on bench warrant for failing to appear in court

WEST GREENWICH — Rhode Island State Police arrested a 59-year-old woman late Friday night on a bench warrant for failing to appear for an arraignment on charges of obstructing an officer.

Troopers from the Hope Valley Barracks took Rhonda Stephens of Fall River, Massachusetts, into custody following a traffic stop on Route 95 in West Greenwich at 11 p.m.

Stephens had an outstanding Second Division District Court Bench Warrant related to her failure to appear for an arraignment.

The original charge stemmed from an incident with the Tiverton Police Department.

Following the stop, Stephens was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks for processing.

She was later taken to the Adult Correctional Institution – Women’s Intake Center.

Major John Allen, Uniform Bureau Commander of the Rhode Island State Police, provided the details of the arrest.
