Worcester police arrest juvenile after stabbing leaves man seriously injured

WORCESTER — Worcester Police Department officers apprehended a juvenile suspect Wednesday afternoon in connection with a stabbing that left a 30-year-old man with multiple serious injuries.

The incident occurred on Sunderland Road around 1:00 p.m. when officers responded to a report of an assault.

Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from stab wounds.

He was quickly transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Following an investigation, police identified a juvenile as the suspected assailant, resulting in a brief pursuit on foot that concluded in the Green Street area.

During the arrest, authorities report that the juvenile resisted and kicked officers.

A large kitchen knife was discovered on the suspect, leading to multiple charges including assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and aggravated with serious bodily injury, armed assault to murder, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace.

The juvenile is currently in custody as the investigation continues.
