West Yarmouth man arrested for illegal firearm and cocaine possession

WEST YARMOUTH — Yarmouth Police Detectives apprehended a local man Wednesday, following a tip that led them to discover an illegal firearm and narcotics in his possession.

Stephen Ebersold, 38, was stopped by authorities around noon on Route 28.

Ebersold, a convicted felon with a history of illegal firearm possession, was taken into custody after a brief interaction with the officers.

During the investigation, a Sig Sauer P320, 9-millimeter handgun with a ten-round magazine was seized.

Officers also found 6 grams of cocaine on Ebersold while booking him at the police station.

Ebersold now faces multiple charges including possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, improper storage of a large capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession of class B substance – cocaine.

He was arraigned in Barnstable District Court later that day.
