Victim in West Springfield stabbing identified, investigation continues

WEST SPRINGFIELD — The Hampden District Attorney’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal stabbing that occurred on Amostown Road last Saturday night.

At 10:02 p.m. on May 25, West Springfield Police officers responded to a call reporting an unresponsive man in the 10-20 block of Amostown Road.

The victim, later identified as 50-year-old Joseph Seymour of West Springfield, was transported to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The investigation into Seymour’s death is ongoing, with efforts being led by the West Springfield Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, and the DA’s Murder Unit.

District Attorney Anthony Gulluni extended his condolences to Seymour’s family as they grapple with the loss.

Authorities have urged anyone with information related to the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation.
