SAINT ALBANS — A local woman was charged with felony larceny on May 30 after allegedly stealing a breakfast sandwich and cash from a man’s truck on Market Street.

According to the St. Albans Police Department, the suspect, identified as Megan Royea, approached the victim while he was seated in his vehicle, asking for money.

After he declined, Royea allegedly reached through the open window, took a breakfast sandwich and $40 from the console, and fled on foot.

Police officers apprehended Royea shortly after the incident.

She was charged with larceny from a person—a felony—and a violation of conditions of release from previous offenses.

Royea appeared in Franklin County court around 1 p.m. to face not only the charges from the day’s events but also pending charges including attempted grand larceny, unlawful trespass, multiple counts of larceny from a motor vehicle, and additional violations of release conditions.

Following her court appearance, Royea was released on a $1,000 appearance bond with a 24-hour curfew at a Richford residence.

She was last seen leaving the courthouse alone, walking west on Lake Street.

Over the course of 2024, Royea has reportedly had over 88 police contacts for a range of alleged criminal acts and other service calls.
