WESTPORT — Early Sunday morning, Westport Police arrested a Rhode Island man for multiple offenses including breaking and entering and driving under the influence after responding to a bizarre incident at a local residence.

At 1 a.m., officers were called to a home on Horseneck Road where a homeowner reported an unknown male had entered her bedroom holding a bottle of vodka.

She managed to eject the intruder and called the police.

En route to the scene, officers came upon a recent single-vehicle accident near the residence.

The car had significant front-end damage with debris strewn about the roadway.

The driver matched the description of the man reported to be in the home earlier.

Upon further investigation, Logan McNamara of Central Falls, Rhode Island, was taken into custody.

He faces charges of breaking and entering in the nighttime, operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violation.

Detective Sergeant Bryan McCarthy is continuing the investigation into the series of events that led to McNamara’s arrest.
