Buxton woman dies following Scarborough traffic accident

SCARBOROUGH — A Buxton woman has died as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident that occurred on May 27 near the intersection of County Road and Riverwoods Drive.

Tina Rea, 48, passed away last night following the Monday morning crash.

Scarborough Public Safety Communications received a report of the accident at about 9 a.m. Emergency response teams from Scarborough Public Safety, Westbrook Fire, Gorham Fire, Buxton Police Department, and Maine State Police were dispatched to the scene.

Rea, along with Tomas Escobar, 47, also of Buxton, and one juvenile were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

County Road was closed for four hours, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., as authorities investigated the scene.

The Scarborough Police Department is continuing to investigate the cause of the accident and is seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the event.
