BOSTON — Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force recovered a large capacity firearm and arrested an 18-year-old suspect on firearm charges in Roxbury on Tuesday evening.

At about 6:57 p.m., on May 28, officers were conducting a firearm investigation near 633 Shawmut Avenue when they identified Giovanni Eden-Chambers of Dorchester as the target of their inquiry, believed to be armed.

Observing Eden-Chambers standing outside an open door of a double-parked vehicle, officers circled the block and upon return, found him seated inside.

When officers requested Eden-Chambers to exit the vehicle, they noticed he was pinning his arm to his waistband.

A pat frisk led to the discovery of a Smith and Wesson SD40 with one round in the chamber and twelve rounds in the magazine concealed in his waistband.

Eden-Chambers was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device.

He is set to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
