MEDFORD — The Medford Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying three suspects involved in a theft at a local Wegmans on May 27.

The individuals were reportedly selling candy bars in front of the store before confronting an employee in the parking lot and coercing him to hand over his money.

Authorities say the employee targeted has cognitive impairments.

The suspects, believed to be from out of state, are accused of exploiting the guise of fundraising for a flag football league to conduct their thefts.

In recent days, similar activities by the group have been reported in Melrose, Burlington, Walpole, Newton, and Westwood.

Police urge anyone who encounters these suspects or has information about their identity to contact their local police department.
