BERKLEY — The Berkley Police Department praised the quick action and investigative work of Sgt.

Bernard and Officer Haarala that led to the arrest of two individuals on charges of Receiving Stolen Property.

On April 5, the officers responded to a dispatch call about a disturbance involving two men fighting on the roadside, who then fled in a red vehicle.

Sgt. Bernard and Officer Haarala swiftly located and stopped the vehicle.

Both occupants had visible abrasions and appeared disheveled.

A check for wants and warrants revealed one subject had an active motor vehicle warrant.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a small dirt bike with price tags, several cans of Similac Baby Formula, hair clippers, hair trimmers, and a Samsung Sound Tower.

The conflicting accounts from the individuals about the items raised suspicion of theft.

The items were seized, and Detective Meadows led a follow-up investigation.

Working with the Raynham Police Department, the origins of some of the stolen goods were determined.

The collaboration between departments resulted in charges of Receiving Stolen Property against both subjects.

The Berkley Police Department expressed its commitment to community safety and the importance of inter-agency cooperation.

Chief of Police Christopher Baker recognized the diligent efforts of all officers involved in the case.
