Worcester man arrested in connection with early May stabbing

WORCESTER — A local man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred on Chandler Street earlier this month, the Worcester Police Department announced.

Joseph Erb, 35, of Austin Street, was taken into custody on May 25 on a warrant charging him with assault related to the May 2 stabbing incident.

Police responded to a call at approximately 3:35 p.m. on May 2, where they found a male victim with stab wounds on the sidewalk of lower Chandler Street.

A first responder provided medical aid until the victim could be transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Following the incident, detectives launched an investigation, which led to Erb’s arrest.

The investigation remains active as authorities continue to gather information.
