Man dies after stabbing in West Springfield

WEST SPRINGFIELD — A man was pronounced dead after a stabbing incident on the intersection of Amostown Road and Kings Highway, officials said Saturday.

West Springfield Police Department reported that officers were dispatched to the scene around 10 p.m. Friday following a report of a male subject having been stabbed.

Police arrived within minutes, found the victim, and immediately administered CPR and first aid.

The victim was swiftly transported to Baystate Medical Center for urgent treatment.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was later declared deceased.

The investigation is currently being conducted by the West Springfield Police Detective Bureau, in collaboration with the Mass State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities have emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the community and have reassured the public that more information will be provided as the investigation progresses.
