Troopers make multiple arrests in Providence over weekend

PROVIDENCE — A series of motor vehicle stops in the city led to the arrest of three individuals on various domestic and criminal charges, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

On May 25, at 11:15 a.m., troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks apprehended Ky-Jaya Jones, 27, of Fall River, Massachusetts, on charges of domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct.

Jones was detained following a traffic stop on Elmwood Avenue and was subsequently handed over to the Providence Police Department.

In a separate incident on May 26, just after midnight, Linwood W.

Calhoun, also 27, from Pawtucket, Rhode Island, was arrested on two counts of violating a no-contact order, failure to relinquish a telephone during a domestic incident, and disorderly conduct.

Calhoun’s arrest was the result of a stop on Dexter Street and he was processed at Lincoln Woods Barracks before being turned over to the Pawtucket Police Department.

Later that same morning, at 12:53 a.m., Manuel De Burgo, 37, of Pawtucket, was arrested after being stopped on Vandewater Street.

De Burgo faces charges including driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, obstructing a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

After processing at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, De Burgo was arraigned and released, with a future court date set at the Sixth Division District Court.
