Bridgeport woman shot in face, critical but stable

BRIDGEPORT — A 28-year-old woman was critically injured early May 26 after being shot in the face and neck while driving on the 100 block of Holly Street, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.

Bridgeport Police received a call at about 12:35 a.m. and arrived at the scene to find that the victim had already driven herself to a local hospital.

No crime scene was located on Holly Street, but officers were able to speak briefly with the victim at the hospital.

She reported being shot from a dark-colored vehicle that was nearby.

Despite her critical condition, the woman is expected to survive.

The Detective Bureau is leading the investigation and is currently gathering evidence and canvassing the area.

The police department has stated that the shooting does not appear to be related to two other incidents that occurred on the westside the previous day.

Detectives are now seeking assistance from the public.
