SOUTH WINDSOR — A Bloomfield man was arrested Thursday morning on charges related to a theft and assault at a local Target store, South Windsor Police Department officials said.

Gary L. Kenion, 52, was taken into custody at 9:40 a.m. on an active arrest warrant, according to police reports.

The charges against Kenion are connected to a March incident where he allegedly stole $267.68 worth of merchandise from the retail store.

During the theft, Kenion is accused of intentionally running over a Target employee’s foot with a shopping cart as the employee tried to prevent him from leaving the store.

Kenion was processed and appeared at Manchester Superior Court on Friday.

He was already being held in state custody on unrelated charges from other jurisdictions at the time of his arrest.
