Springfield man arrested on in-state warrant

SPRINGFIELD — A local man was apprehended on an outstanding warrant by Springfield police officers on Saturday evening.

Joshua Cheeney was taken into custody at his Olive Street residence at 6:11 p.m. following a swift response by Officer Guzzo and Corporal Perkins of the Springfield Police Department.

The officers, who arrived at the scene around 6:03 p.m., were executing an arrest warrant that included a provision for bail.

The arrest occurred without any reported incidents, and Cheeney was subsequently issued a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Windsor Unit.

The court date has been scheduled for May 20, at 12:30 p.m., where Cheeney will face the charge stemming from the warrant.

Following the arrest, Cheeney was transported to the Southern State Correctional Facility.

He is being held in lieu of $200 cash or surety bail.
