MONTPELIER — Officers from the Montpelier Police Department swiftly prevented a vehicle theft on Hill Street and arrested a suspect on the evening of May 21.

At 8:21 p.m., MPD responded to a reported theft in progress and intercepted the vehicle as it attempted to leave the scene.

Deshawn Keene, 30, a transient, was taken into custody without incident.

Following his arrest, Keene was transported to the police department for processing.

A Vermont Superior Court Judge set bail at $500.

Unable to post bail, Keene was lodged at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility in St. Johnsbury.
