NEW MILFORD — A 17-year-old male was arrested May 16 in connection with a three-car collision that resulted in the death of another teenager on Danbury Road last year, police said.

The New Milford Police Department officers, along with multiple emergency responders, rushed to the scene outside Italia Mia Restaurant & Pizzeria at approximately 2:25 p.m. on Sept. 22 after receiving several 9-1-1 calls about the crash.

A 17-year-old passenger was killed in the incident, which occurred on Route 7.

The police department’s Crash Reconstruction Team was later called to assist in the investigation.

Authorities have attributed the primary cause of the crash to the excessive speed of the 17-year-old driver, who was taken into custody and charged with manslaughter in the first degree, two counts of assault in the first degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, reckless driving, violating passenger restrictions for 16/17-year-olds, and failure to wear a seat safety belt.

The names of those involved have not been released due to their ages.

The case remains under investigation, and further details will be provided as they become available.
