Moretown tractor-trailer collision results in manslaughter charge

MORETOWN — A Brampton, Ontario man faces an involuntary manslaughter charge following a fatal collision on VT Route 100 near Ward Hill.

On April 11, at 6:46 a.m., Satnam Singh, 24, was operating a 2019 Freightliner FM2 when his vehicle collided with a Subaru XV CrossTrek driven by 39-year-old Rosetta Weber of Waitsfield.

According to the police report, the road was clear at the time of the incident.

Weber, who was wearing her seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries, while Singh, also belted, suffered minor injuries and extensive front-end damage to his vehicle.

He was initially charged with gross negligent operation with death resulting.

The Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office has since filed an additional charge of involuntary manslaughter against Singh.

An arraignment is scheduled for 1 p.m. on May 22 at the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Barre.

Singh remains in custody for lack of bail.
