Montpelier man arrested for unlawfully restraining roommates

MONTPELIER — Two residents were freed from their basement after Montpelier Police responded to a report of unlawful restraint at a Northfield Street residence on May 14 at 8:39 p.m.

Officers Andrew Serrels and Corporal Samuel Lambert arrived at the scene to find the residents locked in the basement by their roommate.

The police promptly detained the suspect, a 22-year-old Montpelier man, and the victims were released.

The Montpelier Police Department’s investigation established probable cause for the arrest of the suspect on charges of unlawful restraint.

The MPD has not released the name of the suspect at this time.
