EAST MILLINOCKET — A local funeral home owner was arrested on May 19 on two outstanding warrants for felony theft, according to a statement released by the police.

Harold “Chip” Lamson, 53, was apprehended by Detective Jacobs of the Lincoln Police Department with assistance from the East Millinocket Police Department.

The arrest is linked to an ongoing investigation into financial irregularities at Lamson’s Funeral Home.

Authorities executed a search warrant at Lamson’s business premises on May 9, after which over 50 complaints were lodged against Lamson.

These complaints allege misuse of funds from funeral trusts.

Lamson has since posted bail and is scheduled for a court appearance on Aug. 8 at 8:30 a.m.

The police have urged anyone who believes they may have been impacted by the alleged misconduct to contact Detective Jacobs or the East Millinocket Police Department.

With the investigation still active, officials have stated that no additional information will be made available at this time.
