Two arrested in separate incidents following traffic stops in Providence

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Troopers made two separate arrests following routine traffic stops in Providence and Woonsocket on Monday.

At 9:48 a.m., Troopers apprehended Cervando Ortega, 25, of 149 Princeton Avenue, Apartment #2, Providence, for a first offense of Domestic–Violation of a No Contact Order.

The arrest occurred after a vehicle stop on Route 6 in Providence.

Ortega was taken to State Police Headquarters for processing, arraigned as a bail violator, and subsequently transported to the Adult Correctional Institution-Men’s Intake Center.

Later in the day, at 1 p.m., Heather Clark, 41, of 541 East School Street, Woonsocket, was arrested on an Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for Shoplifting, issued by the Woonsocket Police Department, and a Sixth District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Sentencing on a Technical Violation on the original charge of Possession of a Schedule I-V Substance.

Clark’s arrest followed a motor vehicle stop on Social Street in Woonsocket.

She was processed at State Police Headquarters and then handed over to the Woonsocket Police Department.
