Holyoke police investigate shooting, juvenile arrested

HOLYOKE — A juvenile was arrested following a ShotSpotter activation that led police to discover nine spent shell casings and a firearm in the area of 563 S Summer Street on May 19.

The Holyoke Police Department responded to the automated gunfire detection system alert in the rear of the South Summer Street address.

Upon arrival, officers conducted an on-scene investigation where they recovered the casings and later found a firearm.

Authorities have not released the name of the juvenile taken into custody due to the individual’s age.

The Holyoke Police Department is urging anyone with video footage or information about the shooting to come forward to assist the investigation.
