CHARLTON — Following a request for assistance from the Spencer Police Department on Tuesday night, the Charlton Police Department successfully located a suspect involved in a domestic incident.

According to officials, the Spencer Police received a call around 10 p.m. regarding a male suspect believed to be hiding in the woods and refusing to cooperate with law enforcement.

Officer Gaylord and his K9 partner Dozer responded to the scene to aid in the search.

Dozer was able to track the individual to a campsite, and upon further investigation, led officers through a wooded path.

Exhibiting signs of nearby human presence, the K9 pulled into dense brush off the trail, indicating the close proximity of the suspect.

Despite limited visibility caused by thick foliage, officers made announcements for anyone in the vicinity to approach slowly.

The male, wanted in connection with the domestic dispute, was discovered hiding in the underbrush a short distance from where K9 Dozer alerted.

The suspect surrendered without incident and was taken into custody by the Spencer Police on charges related to domestic assault.
