WESTBROOK — Six members of the Westbrook Police Department have received the 2023 Unit Citation for their roles in a significant drug investigation that culminated in a major bust in August.

Sergeant Jaci Lorenzen, Sergeant Jeremy Smith, Special Agent Phil Robinson, Special Agent Kipp Bleicken, Officer Candice Rankin, and Officer Thomas Lauzon were recognized for their collaborative efforts, which led to the seizure of drugs, a firearm, and thousands of dollars in suspected drug money on Mechanic Street.

The investigation, which involved Westbrook officers assigned to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, resulted in the confiscation of 152 grams of cocaine, 50 grams of crack cocaine, and approximately $8,200 in suspected drug proceeds.

Additionally, two individuals were arrested on drug trafficking charges.

Authorities highlighted the success of the operation, attributing it to the persistent and meticulous work of the drug agents, as well as the strong teamwork between them and the patrol units.

The arrests and seizures represent a significant blow to the local drug trade, according to police officials.
