Hartland break-in leaves no items stolen, intruder makes meal and sleeps

HARTLAND — Vermont State Police Royalton Barracks is requesting the public’s help regarding a peculiar burglary that occurred at a residence on 69 Route 5.

The incident took place during a period when the homeowners were absent, between May 9 and May 16.

According to the police report, an unknown person or persons unlawfully entered the locked dwelling.

However, the homeowners have confirmed that no possessions appear to have been taken.

Instead, the intruder seemingly made themselves at home by preparing a meal, sleeping in a bed, and then vacating the premises without stealing any items.

Evidence was gathered at the scene which may assist in furthering the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the break-in to come forward and assist in identifying those responsible for the unauthorized entry.
