Waterford police seek help identifying shoplifting suspect

WATERFORD — The Waterford Police Department is seeking public assistance in identifying a man who attempted to steal items from a local Wal-Mart on May 12.

According to police, the unidentified male suspect entered the store and attempted to leave with a shopping cart full of merchandise without paying.

The items in the cart were valued at a total of $278.

When confronted by store personnel, the suspect abandoned the cart and left the scene in the passenger side of a vehicle.

The car is believed to have a Connecticut license plate, number BD737.

Officer Barrows of the Waterford Police Department is handling the investigation and is urging anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or the location of the car to come forward.
