Worcester shooting victim dies, case now ruled a homicide

WORCESTER — The April 30 shooting on Paine Street has turned fatal after the victim succumbed to his injuries, prompting authorities to reclassify the incident as a homicide, the Worcester Police Department announced May 17.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was discovered with a gunshot wound after officers responded to reports of a vehicle crashing into a house at 9:01 p.m. on April 30.

He had been receiving treatment at a local hospital before his death.

An update on May 9 confirmed that a 16-year-old male had been arrested on a warrant in connection with the shooting.

He faces charges of Armed Assault to Murder, Possession of a Loaded Firearm without a License to Carry, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.

The Worcester Police Department’s investigation is ongoing, and they urge anyone with information to come forward.
