Westford couple charged with child and animal cruelty

WESTFORD — Vermont State Police arrested a local couple Monday morning on charges of cruelty to a child and animal cruelty.

Authorities were called to Woods Hollow Rd. in Westford at 7:23 a.m. after receiving reports of neglected children.

The investigation by the Williston Barracks of the Vermont State Police found that Gregory Terry, 41, and Sarah Rose, 30, of Westford, had neglected their children and abandoned them along with several animals.

Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department and the Vermont Department for Children and Families were notified and assisted in the investigation.

The parents were located without incident and cited to appear before the Vermont Superior Court, Chittenden Criminal Division.

The Vermont State Police have not released the names of the victims, adhering to their policy regarding cases of sexual assault or domestic violence.

Terry and Rose are scheduled to answer to the charges in court.

Details about the number of children and animals involved, and their current condition, were not immediately available.
