Leicester teen arrested for unlawfully possessing loaded firearm during traffic stop

LEICESTER — A routine traffic observation in the Rochdale section of Leicester led to the arrest of a 17-year-old Southbridge juvenile for possessing a loaded firearm and other offenses on Tuesday, April 30, at approximately 1:48 p.m.

A Leicester Police officer conducting traffic surveillance noticed a vehicle with mismatched registration plates, prompting a stop to investigate the discrepancy.

During the stop, police discovered a fully loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun inside the vehicle.

The young male suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed due to his juvenile status, was taken into custody without incident.

He was processed, posted bail, and subsequently released.

Authorities charged the suspect with several offenses, including number plate violation to conceal identity, operating an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

The suspect appeared at Worcester Juvenile Court for arraignment on Wednesday, May 1.
