Canaan, ME man arrested for illegal marijuana cultivation

CANAAN — Somerset County Sheriff’s Office Detectives arrested 63-year-old Jian Ji Wu of Canaan on Wednesday, May 15, on charges related to illegal marijuana cultivation at his residence on Hinckley Road.

The arrest followed the execution of a drug search warrant on Tuesday, May 14, after a months-long investigation into alleged illegal marijuana plant cultivation activities at Wu’s property.

Wu faces charges of Cultivation of Marijuana (Class B) and Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (Class B).

According to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation is ongoing, and they have not ruled out additional arrests or charges.

Wu is currently being held at the Somerset County Jail awaiting arraignment.
