Newbury man arrested for assaulting firefighters at scene

NEWBURY — A Newbury man was taken into custody on May 14 after attempting to assault firefighters responding to a fire at his residence.

Vermont State Police responded to a call at approximately 8:18 p.m. regarding a male attempting to assault firefighters with a stick.

Upon arrival at the scene, troopers made contact with Edward Rose, 33, who was reportedly aggressive towards members of the Wells River Fire Department.

Investigations confirmed that Rose had been trying to impede the firefighting efforts by threatening the first responders.

He was arrested and brought to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing.

Rose has been cited to appear in Orange County Court on June 19 at 8:30 a.m. to face charges of Assault on Protected Professionals.
