MOULTONBOROUGH — A Florida man wanted for multiple charges was arrested in Moultonborough after allegedly sending harassing messages and being found with a stolen vehicle.

On Monday, May 13, at 4:26 p.m., Officer William Gillis of the Moultonborough Police Department was alerted to the presence of Josiah Daniel Ortiz, 28, who was reportedly at the Harbor Square complex sending harassing texts.

Ortiz had cut off his ankle monitor and was wanted in Florida for charges related to an incident that left two motorcyclists seriously injured in Doral.

Gillis located the stolen vehicle, which was taken from Pennsylvania, at the complex.

When approached, Ortiz fled on foot but was apprehended behind Coldwell Banker Realty at 32 Whittier Highway.

Ortiz, of Miami, Florida, was charged with Fugitive from Justice and Receiving Stolen Property; $1501+ for the stolen vehicle.

He was held at the Carroll County Jail and is set for arraignment at the 3rd Circuit Court-District Division-Ossipee today at 12:45 p.m.

Additional support was provided by the Center Harbor Police Department and Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
